Job Title: PRACE HPC support engineer
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for one or two full-time or part-time, fixed term positions as PRACE HPC support engineer with CeSViMa at the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, UPM). The position will be located at the CeSViMa site in Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid.
These positions are funded by European Commission and are available immediately to contract end date no later than June 31, 2017.
CeSViMa (Centro de Supercomputación y Visualización de Madrid) is the supercomputing facility of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). It provides tools for high performance computing and advanced interactive visualization, providing computer support to national and international research projects within four basic areas: Astronomy, Space and Earth Sciences, Biomedicine and Health Sciences, Chemistry and Materials and Physics and Engineering.
Currently, CeSViMa is integrated into the Spanish Supercomputing Network (RES), is included into the directory of Infrastructures and Laboratories Network of the Community of Madrid and is a member of the e-Ciencia Spanish Network.
This role directly supports CeSViMa to implement, operate, and monitor common operational services for the use of the European HPC infrastructure.
These services include, but are not limited to, network services, data services, concerted procedures for resource management, harmonized procedures for authorization, authentication, and accounting services, and monitoring services for operations group.
PRACE, the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe, is a partnership of representatives from 25 countries whose mission is to deliver high-impact scientific and industrial research through the provision of HPC services. The successful candidate will participate in a wide range of coordination activities locally, nationally and internationally.
Candidates must exhibit task and event management skills, experience developing, debugging, maintaining, supporting, and using application software, experience supporting and collaborating with external partners, experience with UNIX-based systems, and a thorough understanding of high performance computing architectures.
In order to be successful in this role the candidate should have analytical problem solving ability, ability to coordinate multiple tasks and adapt to change, excellent communication and interpersonal skills to be able to work within a team to complete tasks on schedule, and good level of English.
International travel may be required.
Candidates are required to hold a bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or similar (higher degree)

- Duration of the contract: 6-8 months.
- Annual gross salary: € 26500 – 56000 per annum, depending on the value of the candidate
